On Friday multiple organizations throughout Walker County received a combined total of over $210,000 in Cawaco RC&D funds for local projects. Examples include a communication center for Copeland Ferry Volunteer Fire Department (VFD), Parrish VFD equipment upgrades, a baby box, weekend food backpacks for students in need through Backyard Blessings, community gardens, a bicycle physical education program for students, Town of Parrish basketball court, spay and neuter efforts, and conservation education.

RC&D (Resource Conservation and Development) grants provide financial support for community-led projects that promote sustainable development, natural resource conservation, and economic growth in rural areas. These grants help enhance local infrastructure, boost agricultural productivity, and improve environmental stewardship while fostering community resilience.

Thank you to all organizations who work every day to improve the quality of life for area residents.
